Michael Bankston is a photographer working between Charlotte, Savannah, and Atlanta. Early on, he was always drawn to how light falls across skin, fabric, and architecture, and how a small shift in gesture or shadow can transform something ordinary into something cinematic. That sensitivity to atmosphere and detail continues to anchor his work.
Michael studied at the Savannah College of Art and Design, where he refined a practice rooted in fashion, portraiture, fine art, and alternative practices. Collaborating with artists, stylists, designers, and performers on editorial shoots, he learned to build images that are carefully staged yet emotionally grounded. Treating the set as a space for experimentation, intimacy, and growth.
Working primarily in black and white, Michael favors stark contrast and a painterly, almost impressionistic sense of tone. Through minimalism, beauty comes from clarity, how light carves a figure and sculpts the frame. His images invite viewers into a world that feels both constructed and deeply personal.
